The Journey of Overcoming Self-Sabotage: My Personal Story

Chapter 1: The Admission of Defeat
I often find myself grappling with feelings of inadequacy. At the beginning of this year, I set three aspirations for myself: I would invest one hour each morning to write an article, commit to working out at least three times a week, and read for ten minutes before going to sleep. Yet here I stand—three kilograms heavier, five unread books gathering dust on my shelf, and finally putting pen to paper after a two-month break. What went wrong?
The Lack of Purpose Behind My Goals
One of the primary motivations for starting my blog was to create a source of passive income. However, my full-time job already provides a stable financial foundation, and I don’t have pressing financial obligations. The need for extra income feels distant, almost abstract.
The Desire for Instant Gratification
The results of hard work often take time to materialize. Consequently, I found myself seeking immediate satisfaction instead. Rather than dedicating time to writing, I chose to indulge in extra sleep. Instead of heading to the gym, I opted for leisurely drives around the city. Rather than curling up with a book, I lost myself in the endless scroll of social media every night.
Ultimately, I discovered that my greatest obstacle is fear.
Confronting My Fears
I fear failure. I fear that no matter how hard I strive, I may never be good enough. So, I often take the easy route—procrastinating, making excuses, and avoiding the discomfort of confronting my limitations. However, I understand that genuine growth happens beyond our comfort zones.
Today, I choose to face these fears directly. There may be days when I miss out on writing, skip a workout, or get trapped in social media. Still, I will always make an effort to try again. The only real failure lies in the refusal to try.
