A Whimsical Celebration of Poetry: Embracing Words and Joy

Chapter 1: A Month of Poetry
This month is significant for poetry enthusiasts everywhere!
"Hey, Pernoste, do you know what special occasion we’re celebrating this month?"
"[Pernoste] April. Is this a trick question?"
"[Anneliese] Not at all! I’m referring to what we’re celebrating this month."
"[P] People usually mention such things at work. I know that today, April 22nd, is National Jelly Bean Day."
"[A] No, no! The entire month—it's National Poetry Month! I just discovered this, so we should mark the occasion, right?"
"[P] Sure, we might be a bit late since we’re already past the halfway point. But I was hoping to wait for National Poetry Day in the UK on October 3rd."
"[A] Well, I may have once been Scottish/Irish, but I can’t wait that long."
"[P] And we also missed World Poetry Day, which was on March 21st, as recognized by UNESCO. Plus, Sacramento celebrates Poetry Day on October 26th, and we missed it last year!"
"[A] Alright then! Let’s have a belated, timely, and slightly premature celebration of National and World Poetry Day/Month."
"[P] Sounds good! You used to be from the UK, currently reside in America, and (last I checked) we’re both still here on this planet. So, what’s next?"
"[A] Naturally, we should share poems! What else would you expect?"
"[P] I was hoping you’d suggest treating your favorite poetry buddy to a beer or perhaps some gifts."
"[A] No cash for that… so you’re on your own! However, I’m registered on Amazon if you feel the urge to gift me something. How about we each share a couple of poems about poetry?"
"[P] Let’s do it!"
Section 1.1: Sharing Our Verses
"[A] I’ll go first with two brief pieces."
Words from the Heart
Poetry is the voice of my soul,
nurturing me through my grief,
unraveling for my logical mind
what truly matters in life.
by Anneliese Dahl
In Your Whirlwind
In your whirlwind,
I adore you,
when words flow
like poetry
from your lips,
drawing me closer,
a delightful enchantment
I can only calm
with a kiss.
by Anneliese Dahl
"[P] I enjoyed both! The line about poetry revealing truths to the logical mind in the first is brilliant. The second one is so quintessentially you… sweet and passionate."
"[A] Now it’s your turn!"
"[P] Here’s my tribute to poetry."
Dream, Sweetly Dream
Do not overlook the quiet poet
who captures your essence
with varied words and melodies,
as if from within you.
There lies magic in poetry
to transform and awaken,
with stanzas that depict beauty
without needing an artist's brush.
We dream sweetly, and we learn
that poetry articulates
our hopes and aspirations.
by Pernoste
"[A] I love this, Pernoste. The last four lines resonate deeply with me."
"[P] And don’t forget, tomorrow is National Talk Like Shakespeare Day!"
"[A] Oh dear Pernoste, that delightful day is fast approaching. I must quickly dream away these fleeting hours until then."
"[P] Doesn’t count! It’s still tomorrow."
"[A] Just rehearsing. Perhaps people will read our 'Much Ado About Love' for a touch of Shakespearean humor tomorrow."
"[P] Let’s go; it’s time. Until the morrow, we shall await."
So, dear friends, enjoy this whimsical, belated, and timely celebration of National and World Poetry Day/Month! Thank you for indulging in our poems.
