A Journey of Self-Discovery: Insights from Daniel

Chapter 1: Introduction to My World

I’m often seen as an enigmatic figure who pens life lessons while simultaneously expressing myself through art.

If you were to meet me face to face, you might think, “This person calls himself a writer but can’t even spell his name right?!”

And if that thought didn’t cross your mind before, it certainly would now!

The lowercase ‘d’ in my name is intentional. Initially, it was a mistake when I set up my profile on ‘M’. However, as I stared at it in the editor, it felt fitting. I see myself as a novice writer and artist, embarking on a journey to discover what resonates.

In this context, the lowercase suggests a humble beginning, symbolizing my ongoing development. I don’t feel worthy of the uppercase ‘D’ just yet.

It’s not about self-deprecation; rather, I view myself as a continuous work in progress, and this perspective fuels my motivation and self-awareness.

For years, I had the ‘M’ app on my phone, telling myself, “One day I’ll start.” But as the saying goes, “Tomorrow never comes, and when it does, it becomes today.”

Instead of sharing my actual photo and a list of my hobbies, I pondered, “Is my profile about me, or is it about the messages I wish to convey and the lessons I’ve learned that others might benefit from?”

I could post a picturesque photo of myself atop a mountain, appearing contemplative, while in reality, I might be thinking, “Help! How do I get down from here?” Or perhaps a shot with dogs at a shelter to showcase my rugged yet gentle side?

There’s a lot to consider!

Maybe someday I’ll choose to reveal more about myself, but for now, I’d prefer to share my voice. I believe everyone has a story, and I’m eager to express mine through both writing and art.

In today’s world, interactions can feel forced and shallow. It’s disheartening to witness how scrutinized our words have become, leading to a reluctance to connect. If you live in a bustling city driven by profits and deadlines, you might understand what I mean.

We are meant to be in community, not isolated behind screens all day. While I cherish my downtime for reflection, I also enjoy socializing, exchanging ideas, and laughing with others. Though I once thrived in the party scene, it no longer appeals to me.

Maybe I just need to find the right gatherings! I do enjoy sports where I can compete alongside teammates. It’s not merely about the thrill of winning; it’s about the liberating feeling that comes with physical activity.

In those moments, it feels as if nothing else matters.

However, we seem to be living in a time where trust among each other is waning. It often feels like everyone has an ulterior motive. While it’s not true for all, doesn’t it seem that way at times?

Sometimes, conversations can lead to misunderstandings, and instead of seeking clarification, people jump to conclusions. This tendency is unfortunate but part of human nature.

This is precisely why I cherish writing and why I’m here on ‘M’. Writing offers a space for those of us who feel unheard to articulate our thoughts and feelings.

Writing is a sanctuary where we can express ourselves without needing to explain ourselves. I aim to share my perspectives on life with you.

Perhaps you’re in a place where you feel disconnected from genuine relationships, or like me, you’re surrounded by acquaintances but lack true connections.

Finding your tribe can be challenging, but how can you connect with others if you don’t put yourself out there?

So here I am, making myself known. I enjoy writing and drawing, and I’ve taken on the ambitious challenge of sketching an illustration for each of my posts.

It’s been a learning experience, but I’m committed to improving my ability to convey my thoughts through both writing and art.

I’m a keen observer of people and society, and I often reflect on my observations in my work.

If I had to categorize my writing, it would fall under “Life Lessons.” Humor often finds its way into my messages because, as Shakespeare said, “Many a true word hath been spoken in jest.”

I believe humor can ease tough conversations, making them more digestible.

As a Christian, I believe we all have a purpose and a calling in life. By pursuing a relationship with God through Jesus and helping others, we can discover our true purpose.

We believe that everyone has unique talents, some of which are easy to recognize, while others take time to develop.

Regardless of the nature of our gifts, we should use them to the best of our abilities for good.

This is my aim as I write here: to utilize the ability I believe I possess.

As I embark on this journey of self-discovery through writing, I hope you’ll accompany me on this path of growth and learning. There’s much more to my story, and I invite you to explore it through my writings.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.

P.S. To those of you contemplating sharing your own stories but doubting your capabilities, I encourage you to take the leap.

You might hear discouraging voices telling you that writing is futile, that results take too long, or that no one will read your work.

They might be right, or they might be wildly wrong. Only you can determine if there’s value in your words.

But you won’t know until you start sharing your message.

So, whatever is holding you back, write about it today. Others are going through similar experiences and would love to hear how you navigate them.

Do it today.

I’ve launched an art publication for writers to express their ideas through art:
