The Skip Test: A Life Evaluation Tool

Picture this: you’re 90 years old, lying on your deathbed, when someone asks, "Was your life worth living?"

Your response is likely a resounding yes because:

  • You pursued a fulfilling career or passion.
  • You surrounded yourself with loved ones and friends.
  • Life was relatively smooth without major disasters.
  • You enjoyed good health for most of your life—after all, you made it to 90!

All these reasons are perfectly valid.

But what if there was a way to evaluate your life based on how you utilized your time?

Let me introduce you to the concept of The Skip Test. Developed by psychologists who studied 8,500 individuals, this test gauges happiness and contentment. Participants were asked to note their current activities and the time spent on them, followed by this crucial question:

"If you could jump ahead in time to the end of your current activity without any negative repercussions, would you?"

The findings were striking: on average, people would choose to skip 40% of their waking hours, equating to about 6.5 hours each day that didn't feel worth experiencing.

Isn't that a thought-provoking insight?

This revelation prompted us to assess our own schedules. How much of our daily activities would we skip if we knew everything would still be completed? And how could we reduce the time spent on tasks we’d prefer to avoid?

We reviewed our Google Calendar:

  • Gym? Skip.
  • Meetings that could be emails? Skip.
  • Emails that begin with "nice to e-meet you"? Can’t skip those fast enough!

In the end, we estimated about 3 hours, or roughly 19% of our 16 waking hours, could be skipped. Not too bad, right?

Give it a try and let us know your findings in the comments!

Freshly Baked: The Case of Do Kwon

In major news, authorities are finally pursuing Do Kwon, the founder of Luna, in a serious manner. This isn't about giving him a cookie and reminding him to take advantage of his PTO.

South Korean prosecutors have requested Interpol to issue a red notice for Kwon after investigating the collapse of Luna, which cost approximately $40 billion.

What is a red notice, you ask?

It serves as a global alert to law enforcement about individuals wanted internationally and urges them to locate and arrest these fugitives. Think of it as a real-life version of the emergency siren emoji 🚨🚨🚨.

A warrant for Kwon's arrest was issued last week, but law enforcement has been unable to locate him.

Media outlets report that he’s "on the run," though Kwon claims he hasn’t been particularly active lately.

Here’s a fun riddle for you:

How many red notices are currently active?

You’ll find the answer at the end of this message.
