Chapter 1: Twitch's Hosting Feature Update

In this piece, I will delve into the latest happenings in the gaming world. First up, Twitch has announced the discontinuation of its popular Host Mode feature, which allowed streamers to showcase another creator's stream and transfer their audience over.

The idea was that viewers could easily find new streamers they might enjoy. However, a significant drawback was that viewers couldn't engage with the new host directly; they had to search for the new creator's stream manually. This led to a disconnect, preventing viewers from forming meaningful relationships with the streamers they were watching.

Consequently, Twitch has opted to eliminate this feature, replacing it with a new shoutout option set to roll out soon. This feature will enable creators to use “/shoutout [channel]” in their chat, effectively promoting another creator's channel.

In my view, removing the Host Mode was unnecessary. Instead, Twitch should have revamped it to ensure viewers could seamlessly transition to the new creator's stream, enhancing their experience alongside the introduction of the shoutout feature.

Chapter 2: Introduction of Xbox Elite Series 2 Core

In other news, Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core model, which offers the same high-quality performance as its predecessor but at a more budget-friendly price. The Elite Series 2 retails for USD 179.99, while the Core model is available for USD 129.99.

The reduced price comes from the omission of several accessories included in the standard package. The Core bundle features the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core controller, a USB-C cable, and a thumbstick adjustment tool. However, buyers can still purchase the complete accessory set separately for USD 59.99.

Additionally, the Core model is now offered in an attractive white finish, which I believe is a significant improvement over the original black design. As someone who has used the Elite controller for an extended period, I appreciate the quality but have noticed some wear and tear. The Core model is ideal for those like me who need a new Elite controller without the need to invest in all the extra accessories again. The new color is just the icing on the cake.
